Ingredients
– 1/2 cup sliced almonds
– 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
– 1/4 cup candied orange peel, finely chopped
– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter
– 1/4 cup granulated sugar
– 2 tablespoons honey
– 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt
– 4 ounces dark chocolate, melted (for dipping)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced almonds, chopped hazelnuts, candied orange peel, and flour.
3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar, honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble slightly.
4. Pour the butter mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well to coat everything evenly.
5. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for spreading. Flatten each mound slightly with the back of the spoon.
6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Watch closely to prevent burning.
7. Remove from the oven and allow the pastries to cool completely on the baking sheet.
8. Once cooled, dip the flat side of each pastry in melted dark chocolate and place them chocolate-side up on a sheet of parchment paper to set.
9. Allow the chocolate to harden before serving or storing in an airtight container.
